Eating out - at least dress up reasonably well

I just don’t get it. If you go out to eat at least dress reasonably well. In acceptable as per norms clothes. Recently I was at a certain i I would say nice place. It was around 1030 in the morning and some couples were dropping in for breakfast. One guy, a Professor with some years behind him at a reputed institution turned up in shorts - now shorts can be formal but the ones he wore were of the stringy clingy cotton type. Even one lady - her dress looked all crumpled as though she slept in it and turned up for breakfast. Footwear - again close to those worn regularly at the house. Come on I know it’s the time and age of being informal but do not stretch it. Even a dhabha would not like this. Enjoy the food but dress up at least reasonably. And don't let the shorts get into the rear side cleavage !! All reactions: ...

The Self Employed and the Private Sector Professionals - Create your own safety nets Dinesh K Kapila, CGM (Retd), NABARD This article is prompted rather motivated cum prompted by what I see around me over the years and the sheer trauma or if not trauma than the huge amount of difficulties and challenges posed by the lack of creating a safety net by many self employed professionals and private sector employees when troubles strike. And troubles can strike even if the magnitude may vary. And an employee in a private sector set up not offering a safety net. These three are Life Insurance, Medical Insurance, Property cover and a Pension for old age. We can add a fourth, an insurance for the house or apartment and the high cost consumer items. These need not be looked at as an expense but an...

Water Resources, Depletion and Conservation

Water Resources, Depletion and Conservation. By Dinesh K Kapila (CGM (Retd) NABARD Water resources, depletion and conservation. This topic was taken up sometime back at a function of the Navothan / Parjai. I spoke there from my perspective as a development banker and   along with two experts, Dr SS Grewal and Shri JP Singh. My focus was on the practical realities and the theoretical construct as also on the efforts put in bias in Morni   Hills to substantiate that water is the core of sustainable development. It's critical for socioeconomic development, energy, and production of food for a healthy ecosystem. For   human survival rather life itself. Water is fundamental. It's also an issue of rights. As the world grows, as the population and economies grow, we need to balance our commercial and consumer needs as also integrate communities and gender friendly policies too. And in addition, we have to move away from the dependency syndrome of looking to the Gove...
