Some young ladies - some young men are in a quandary !!😛

by Dinesh K Kapila Life has both trends and evolution, over time and space and then cultural norms change. It happens slowly as regards deep rooted social conventions but change comes. Some get the edge of it early. Sitting with some young men off and on and mentoring them, actually ladies have been rather rare, it has been quite a revelation. On a change in the offing in certain segments of the socio economic classes. My mentoring is the informal type, a conversation rather, not a one sided discussion, a blackboard to throw up thoughts and it’s not regular. Sometimes, to just change the atmosphere I just observe, ‘young man, what about marriage’, this start up and growth is all ok, but the personal side of life is also a priority. Well, from what I get to hear, I at times am silenced, believe me this is not easy !! The silence part!! The start up idea or problem or business is easier to discuss than what I hear on matrimony. I have heard so much from a few, well, I thought why not ...

Military Leadership – Its Relevance for CEOs in the Corporate World

Military Leadership – Its Relevance for CEOs in the Corporate World.  Dinesh K Kapila , Chief General Manager, NABARD (Retd) .   The characteristics of Military leadership at the senior level are often not considered as a useful tool for replication in the corporate world. The two worlds, specially in the Indian context are viewed as two exclusive separate streams with a minimal element of commonality. However one has to distinguish between the stereotyped swagger, the spit and fire image prevalent in India of a military leader and search for its essence. It is this essence which this article seeks to explore as also its relevance for the corporate sector. This has been attempted by studying the characteristics and views of military leaders such as Marshals Zhukov & Rokossovsky of Russia, Generals Eisenhower & Patton of USA, Field Marshal Montgomery of the UK and our very own Field Marshals Carriappa and Manekshaw, both astute leaders and seasoned milita...

10000 steps a day - Many ways to it ! Actually ! Really !

10000   steps a Day – Many ways to it   ! Actually !   Really !! Dinesh K Kapila The fitness bug is there, it’s a wave. One feels overwhelmed. We have sundry doctors scaring the crap out of us, speciality wise, one day it’s the nephrologist, then the cariologists, the oncologists are always there. And Endocrinologists,   In fact I feel for the ENT and Medicine Specialists as they hardly ever figure in the special pull outs of newspapers dishing out advise on how to ward off varied diseases by varied diets and walking and exercising and running and chilling it out. No matter they are themselves running literally eighteen hours work days. And some with paunches. And all of us know about cholesterol, the good cholesterol, the bad cholesterol, the Blood Pressure readings, the pages containing the tests   run into a book.   But you walk, simply walk, and its all Ok. At least it is supposed to be. In any case I am on 10000 steps a day. The thought o...

AGRI VALUE CHAIN - THOUGHTS JOTTINGS NOTES - FOR A PANEL DISCUSSION

A VCF Seminar   - Jottings and Thoughts – And Notes - For the Panel discussions – BY PUSA KRISH I -  ICAR By Dinesh K Kapila, CGM (Retd), NABARD, Mentor, Writer. SVP / Chairman Society for the Blind / Institute for the Blind, Chandigarh.    Thank You to PUSA KRISHI. Particularly Mani M. Dr Akriti Sharma.    My views essentially flow from what I have observed around me during service and well we do know that India has come a long way from being a food-scarce nation in the 1960s to a food surplus nation thereafter. However, the record levels of production that India has achieved has not translated into increased well-being for the farming community in India in a commensurate manner. A vital cog in increasing farmers’ income will be the extent of credit penetration to the ultimate farmer. And a rise in incomes. A higher share in the retail price so to say. With changing consumer preferences towards branded, well-packed, safe and healthy food there has ...
