My views in short about the US IRAN War

My Two Bits on the War

We are all looking at the war with Iran, by the USA - Israel as close alllies, from a perspective drawn from it’s impact on the economy and markets. Agreed the USA seems to have waded into war without a clear strategy and objective. And its record in Libya, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan is poor. And without a lasting commitment and results. Israel views Iran primarily from the prism of a threat to its nationhood. However. Iran started the process. Building an Anti Israel narrative bordering on a threat to its very existence as a nation. Iran does not have a border with Israel but yet built up its forces and a force to take it on. Then building up its armed proxies, HAMAS, Hezbollah, Houthi’s, these we know, superbly armed and highly militarised. And aggressive. Lebanon itself is a nation divided and with a faltering economy due to the Hezbollah. These were just what we know, other modes were building up propaganda in other nations.
The result, this nation, led by an aggressive clergy, by itself very rare, was actually over reaching itself and trying to build up a leadership across the Islamic World and in the region. The attempt to build up nuclear weapons is also a reality even if of late they may have moderated this under the pressure of the USA. And the funds expended on developing weapon systems is humongous. It’s as though they were itching for war or violence consistently. As if driven by a divine ordained mission. Within Iran also the politicised clergy has ruled with ruthlessness. Even now the population in Iran is clearly on notice not to take on the establishment. And it’s not a hidden threat but stated through the media.
If we study this in totality then let us minimise the one way criticism. Both sides are at fault. Pertinently, If not Trump, another leader down a decade would have stepped in. To at least degrade the armed forces and weapon systems of Iran for a considerable period of time. A regional bully over reaching itself would certainly have got a reality check. From another power. That is all that is happening. And strangely we are finding a civilisation connect and forgetting Nadir Shah and all the attendant happenings. The Arab world is sitting it out as of now primarily because they know Iran was over reaching.
The consequent fall out is certainly very adverse for the world and us. And we need a resolution. But let us view it from the perspective of how it developed. Over the decades.

Pat is the answer, “it is hard and I may struggle, but you will never see me to give up or fai”l. They stood together, on the edge of the swift flowing Madhumati, the staff and soldiers waiting. It was dark. Very Dark. After waiting for some time the Bde Cdr had said, “lets go”. Major PK Batra vividly recollects even now watching the Cdr's face as he looked at the map with a torch. He was calm and very quiet, showing ,no fear or afraid and maintaining a dignified silence. He remembered the old saying, "Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown". It was a moment in not only the life of the Brigade Co...

A Knock on The Door and a Memory

A Knock on The Door and a Memory A Short Story By Dinesh K Kapila  (written for a contest, had to start with Knock Knock ...) Knock knock. The sharp rap shattered the silence, jolting her from a restless daze. Who would knock so late ? Open the door ! The voice, urgent, cut through the stillness. Her breath hitched. That voice ……. Unmistakable. She froze, heart pounding, hand inches from the knob. It could not be…. It sounded just like Dheeraj. How could it be? Just could not be. She was wondering, in the meantime, the knocking continued. Sharp raps. Relentless. She stood back a couple of steps. Wondering. Thinking should she open the door. It was late. Very late. ‘Wait’, she shouted loudly. ‘I will just take a minute”. That would buy her time. To think. What did he look like now. It was now more than three decades since they last met. She had moved on and so had Dheeraj. Life, it gives chances, you grab some, some you let go. On an impulse she steeled herself and o...
